Workshop on 3GPP submission towards IMT-2020
Yesterday October 25th 2018, David Lund, BroadWay coordinator participated to a workshop aimed at informing the ITU sanctioned Evaluation Groups, policy makers and interested experts on the progress of the 3GPP work to meet and exceed the performance requirements for IMT-2020 radio interface technologies. The Workshop was hosted by The European Commission, in Brussels.
The opening presentations provided a very useful high level view of the capabilities 3GPP have defined to be 5G, and where the key capabilities and flexibilities are to support use of 5G in vertical sectors such as public safety. 5G is looking very promising to deliver reliable communications for Public Safety!
It is now vital that our policy makers, regulators, technology and service suppliers, mobile operators and application developers come together to realise this, test and evaluate it to prove that it’s really going to be useful for public safety communication. Expectations are high!
